“I am the creator of my own ideas, thoughts, feelings and situations. All that I need is within me.”

But there are few more things in the self that one most probably doesn’t need. Let go of these, and there’s more room for more joy and sense of fulfillment. And a sense of plenty.

This is one of the secret laws of abundance, which will be discussed by BK Jayanti, “The Secret Laws of Abundance, in a public program on November 10, 7 p.m. at the Mandarin Oriental Ballroom.

BK Jayanti, a meditation practitioner and teacher for forty years, has spoken about the subject in numerous engagements throughout the years and around the world.

Her views on this and other timely spiritual concerns have been compiled in lectures and books and recorded in audio-visual learning kits for use in seminars and workshops.

On the subject of abundance, she routinely quotes Mahatma Gandhi: “The earth provides for every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.”

To this she adds her own insights: “We must recognize that we are creators. But we should be selective in what we create. Whatever is in my life right now, good or not so good, it’s there because I’ve given it permission to come in and stay.”

She explains: “If  I am living in clean, comfortable room, that’s because  I made it that way. If the room is dusty, it’s also because I’ve allowed the dust to gather.”

This is true, BK Jayanti says, of both the physical and spiritual condition.

“This body is made up of proteins, carbohydrates, water, etc., and in order for it to survive, I have to provide it with what it needs – its own components. Similarly, I, the being within the costume of the body, need love, joy and peace—the things I am composed of, without which I become harsh, bitter and joyless.”

How to do both? BK Jayanti unlocks the treasure store during the program, “The Secret Laws of Abundance.” Call 890-7960.

I chose to be centered in the awareness of love, God and my true self. In this center, like the eye of th hurricane, all is tranquil, safe and peaceful. My power, wisdom, peace comes from staying in this center, and i ask for spiritual support from God and His angels to keep my mind aligned with the truth.

I willingly detach myself from the material world, knowing that by so doing, I can effectively help others. I trust God to provide my every need, and I allow His omnipotent wisdom to direct me in all ways.

I accept the steady diet of love and joy, knowing that I deserve happiness and health. I willingly and lovingly release all ego judgments about myself and other people, knowing that everything I want comes from my decision to experience the oneness of all life.

I know I am meant to be a healer and a teacher for God, and I now accept my missions fully without delay or reservation. I surrender all behaviors that would block me from hearing my inner voice, and i happily trust my inner guide to lead me along lightworker’s way, where i joyfully serve as an instrument of love. I release any doubts ad fears I may have about fulfilling my Divine mission, and I now commit to staying aware of my inner Voice for God. I know that this is the only tool I will ever need for my own healing and the healing of the world.

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men-
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the center which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth

Peace has to start as an individual decision. By making a choice to focus even a small segment of my day on peace, I am taking that first step towards every rational person’s fantasy—saving the world.

                                                 Ophelia Julien

Like Ophelia, a housewife and mother, each of us longs for a world at peace.  For after all, we are by nature peaceful souls.

Like Ophelia, we want to get involved in our own simple way but oftentimes don’t know how.  What can we do to create peace?   Peace in Mindanao?  Peace in the world?

We can “TAP” for peace.   TAP is short for Thoughts and Acts of Peace.

In this connection, we  are pleased to invite you to join Mothers for Peace, the Mindanao Commission on Women and other organizations all over the country  in the campaign to create a Million TAPs  for Peace.

The objective of the campaign is to give individuals a sense of participation in dealing with an issue that most people consider quite beyond their power to influence — peace. The campaign will involve as many people as possible in giving minutes of peace through silence, prayer, or meditation and sharing peace by doing acts of peace. It allows people to take a break from their daily routines to think peaceful thoughts and do peaceful acts, thereby achieving inner peace and contributing to peace in Mindanao and in the rest of the world.   Instead of the usual campaign for money, Million TAPS for Peace asks that individuals “donate” minutes of peace.

The nationwide campaign will be launched the start of Peace Month on September 1, 2008 at “Talkback with Tina Palma” on ANC. . It will culminate during the Mindanao Week of Peace on December 3.

If you agree to join the campaign, please forward this invitation to as many of your friends and family as you can.  You may access the Campaign Kit from our website www.milliontapsforpeace.org.

Remember: A single thought has changed the world. How much more a million thoughts? A single act has changed the world. How much more a million acts?

Let us gather a million TAPs for peace!

thought this one’s interesting… =)
why 108?

On a mala, or set of mantra counting beads, there are generally 108 beads, or some fraction of that number. The question often arises: Why are there 108 beads on a mala?
Below are some of the many reasons that have been given for having 108 beads on a mala, as well as a few other points of interest. None of these reasons are being promoted here as more or less true than the others. However, you may notice that 108 appears to be somewhat like a road map of reality in general, and the human in particular.

Regardless of the meaning of 108, it is important that if a mala is used to count mantras, the mantra be remembered with sincerity, devotion, feeling, and full attention.

9 times 12: Both of these numbers have been said to have spiritual significance in many traditions. 9 times 12 is 108. Also, 1 plus 8 equals 9. That 9 times 12 equals 108.

Powers of 1, 2, and 3 in math: 1 to 1st power=1; 2 to 2nd power=4 (2×2); 3 to 3rd power=27 (3×3x3). 1×4x27=108

Harshad number: 108 is a Harshad number, which is an integer divisible by the sum of its digits (Harshad is from Sanskrit, and means “great joy”)

Desires: There are said to be 108 earthly desires in mortals.

Lies: There are said to be 108 lies that humans tell.

Delusions: There are said to be 108 human delusions or forms of ignorance.

Heart Chakra: The chakras are the intersections of energy lines, and there are said to be a total of 108 energy lines converging to form the heart chakra. One of them, sushumna leads to the crown chakra, and is said to be the path to Self-realization.

Sanskrit alphabet: There are 54 letters in the Sanskrit alphabet. Each has masculine and feminine, shiva and shakti. 54 times 2 is 108.

Pranayama: If one is able to be so calm in meditation as to have only 108 breaths in a day, enlightenment will come.

Upanishads: Some say there are 108 Upanishads, texts of the wisdom of the ancient sages.

Sri Yantra: On the Sri Yantra there are marmas where three lines intersect, and there are 54 such intersections. Each intersections has masculine and feminine, shiva and shakti qualities. 54 times 2 equals 108. Thus, there are 108 points that define the Sri Yantra as well as the human body.

Pentagon: The angle formed by two adjacent lines in a pentagon equals 108 degrees.

Marmas: Marmas or marmasthanas are like energy intersections called chakras, except have fewer energy lines converging to form them. There are said to be 108 marmas in the subtle body.

Time: Some say there are 108 feelings, with 36 related to the past, 36 related to the present, and 36 related to the future.

8 extra beads: In doing a practice of counting the number of repetitions of the mala, 100 are counted as completed. The remaining are said to cover errors or omissions. The 8 are also said to be an offering to God and Guru.

Chemistry: Interestingly, there are about 115 elements known on the periodic table of the elements. Most of those, around or higher than the number 100 only exist in the laboratory, and some for only thousandths of a second. The number that naturally exist on Earth is around 100.

Astrology: There are 12 constellations, and 9 arc segments called namshas or chandrakalas. 9 times 12 equals 108. Chandra is moon, and kalas are the divisions within a whole.

River Ganga: The sacred River Ganga spans a longitude of 12 degrees (79 to 91), and a latitude of 9 degrees (22 to 31). 12 times 9 equals 108.

Planets and Houses: In astrology, there are 12 houses and 9 planets. 12 times 9 equals 108.

Goddess names: There are said to be 108 Indian goddess names.

Gopis of Krishna: In the Krishna tradition, there were said to be 108 gopis or maid servants of Krishna.

1, 0, and 8: Some say that 1 stands for God or higher Truth, 0 stands for emptiness or completeness in spiritual practice, and 8 stands for infinity or eternity.

Sun and Earth: The diameter of the Sun is 108 times the diameter of the Earth. The distance from the Sun to the Earth is 108 times the diameter of the Sun.

Moon and Earth: The average distance of the Moon from the Earth is 108 times the diameter of the Moon.

Silver and the moon: In astrology, the metal silver is said to represent the moon. The atomic weight of silver is 108.

Numerical scale: The 1 of 108, and the 8 of 108, when added together equals 9, which is the number of the numerical scale, i.e. 1, 2, 3 … 10, etc., where 0 is not a number.

Meditations: Some say there are 108 styles of meditation.

Breath: Tantra estimates the average number of breaths per day at 21,600, of which 10,800 are solar energy, and 10,800 are lunar energy. Multiplying 108 by 100 is 10,800. Multiplying 2 x 10,800 equals 21,600.

Paths to God: Some suggest that there are 108 paths to God.

Smaller divisions: The number 108 is divided, such as in half, third, quarter, or twelfth, so that some malas have 54, 36, 27, or 9 beads.

Hinduism: 108 is said to refer to the number of Hindu deities. Some say that each of the deities has 108 names.

Islam: The number 108 is used in Islam to refer to God.

Jain: In the Jain religion, 108 are the combined virtues of five categories of holy ones, including 12, 8, 36, 25, and 27 virtues respectively.

Sikh: The Sikh tradition has a mala of 108 knots tied in a string of wool, rather than beads.

Buddhism: Some Buddhists carve 108 small Buddhas on a walnut for good luck. Some ring a bell 108 times to celebrate a new year. There are said to be 108 virtues to cultivate and 108 defilements to avoid.

Chinese: The Chinese Buddhists and Taoists use a 108 bead mala, which is called su-chu, and has three dividing beads, so the mala is divided into three parts of 36 each. Chinese astrology says that there are 108 sacred stars.

Stages of the soul: Said that Atman, the human soul or center goes through 108 stages on the journey.

Meru: This is a larger bead, not part of the 108. It is not tied in the sequence of the other beads. It is the quiding bead, the one that marks the beginning and end of the mala.

Dance: There are 108 forms of dance in the Indian traditions.

Praiseworthy souls: There are 108 qualities of praiseworthy souls.

First man in space: The first manned space flight lasted 108 minutes, and was on April 12, 1961 by Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet cosmonaut.

Sometime, when all life’s lessons have been learned,

And sun and stars forevermore have set,

The things which our weak judgements here have spurned,

The things o’er which we grieved with lashes wet,

Will flash before us out of life’s dark night,

As stars shine most in deeper tints of blue;

And we shall see how all God’s plans are right,

And how what seemed reproof was love most true.

Then be content poor heart;

God’s plans, like lilies pure and white, unfold;

we must not tear the close-shut leaves apart,-

Time will reveal the chalices of gold.

And if through patient toil, we reach the land

where tired feel, with sandals loosed, may rest,

when we shall clearly see and understand

I think that we will say, "God knew the best!"

…when God knows you’re ready for the responsibility of commitment, He’ll reveal the right person under the right circumstances.

More to comfort the single and lonely souls out there:

"For i know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future" - Jeremiah 29:11

All is well in my world…It is how it is..not how I want it to be…OM SHANTI =)
